Hi, I'm Tash... nice to meet you!
I take it by landing on this page, you may want to know a little bit about who I am and what I do, so here goes!
I grew up in London in a family who all work within the arts. My teenage years were loud and rebellious and I surrounded myself with creative and eccentric friends. In 2011 I was managing the bar at Ronnie Scotts and although it was really enjoyable, I felt I needed to be doing something more creative. I have loved image making from day dot and always seen the beauty in the mundane and everyday. At Ronnie's I listened to some of the greatest music out there and everyday witnessed young musicians landing their dream gig. It inspired me to work harder at my own goals. I would see images in my head darting around to the jazz that filled the room and even when I should have been concentrating on remembering a customer's order, I would find myself studying their faces and wondering what light would work best for a portrait. I left after a year and moved to Newport to study at the Film School. I graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Documentary Film and Television and started working right away.
Photography was something I practised throughout my Uni years and even made some money from it. I found ways to incorporate photography into my films and found there to be a tremendous amount of transferable skills that I acquired through my degree, among others, composition, lighting and story.
And thats the most important thing, STORY. I want my images to transport its audience to a time and a place, and to feel the emotion as if they were there for the first time or reliving that special memory.
It is such an important responsibility to be the memory keeper, and one that I feel privileged to have.
I fell in love with shooting weddings as I get to witness people's raw emotions and optimism for life. It has got to be up there with the most life affirming, human affirming events there are, bar maybe childbirth and somehow I don't believe everybody wants a birthing photographer in the room! I am getting hitched myself this year so now understand more than ever the stresses that inevitably come with planning a wedding. I strive never to add to that stress but to act as a support in achieving the day my couple want.
I also love to shoot musicians and other artists. I find it allows me to experiment and push my creativity to it's limits, explore what those limits are and work on them! I work closely with my clients from concept to edit and believe I deliver images that are more than just aesthetically pleasing but also tell some kind of story.
